The Maroc Challenge is the classic vision of a Paris-Dakkar type rally-raid, approachable to anyone. The Challenge is unique in that it aims to offer a low-cost alternative to the current professional-only Dakkar style events. Participation requires neither professional team, nor powerful well-prepared car. The routes chosen are suitable for cars and off-road vehicles alike. It gives the adventurous in spirit the opportunity to compete in an exciting event, and to participate in the distribution of humanitarian effort in needful places.
To accomplish this each team needs carry out the entire project, from gaining sponsorship to improvising repairs needed in the middle of the Moroccan desert… The Challenge ethos is the adventurous desire to throw oneself into the unknown.
The Maroc has been run since 2010, and the Winter 2019 event had over 160 entrants. Participants must complete a journey of approximately 2,000 kilometers through the deserts and mountains of the Alauita Kingdom in Morocco. The journey starts in Spain, ferries to Nador and continues for 8 days. The Challenge is a showcase of passion for the automobile and adventure. Success requiring many techniques and skills to overcome obstacles, all while working within limited means. Teams have an opportunity to see and experience parts of the world that few have occasion to.
The associated charitable project* gives an opportunity in fundraising for, and distribution of materials to help isolated villages and rural schools. The Erfoud area is chosen this outing – Erfoud being one of the least developed areas of Morocco. Participants deliveries will be documented via photo and video to confirm that contributions directly and effectively reach those who need.
